Since it's inception, Steven L. Carter Construction became a household name in seismic retrofitting of commercial and industrial projects. In 1994 the company was contracted to rebuild the Sherman Oaks Fashion Square after it suffered extensive damage during the Northridge earthquake. The company’s experience with seismic projects provided a perfect background for the renovation and refurbishment of delicate historic buildings. Most recently, Steven L. Carter Construction completed a complete core and shell refurbishment of the Mary P. Moll Building in Hollywood, CA (built in 1921) which was the original home of Bob Brooks’ Seven Seas night club, as well as the top to bottom remodel and renovation of the historic Hollywood Professional Building (built in 1925), the former office of Ronald Reagan during his tenure as president of the Screen Actors Guild.

Looking toward the future, Steven L. Carter Construction has made commitments to developing environmentally and socially responsible building strategies. With LEED certification pending and the creation of a Distressed Property division, SLCCI is at the vanguard of the future of commercial construction.

As a life-long resident of Los Angeles, Steven L. Carter embodies the Southern California lifestyle. On weekends he can be found surfing or riding his classic Indian motorcycle through the hills of Southern California. On weekdays, however, Steven can often be found at one of his job sites, lending his hands-on expertise to each of his projects.

Steven honed his skills as a builder while working with his father. As a father-son team they established a reputation as leaders in the construction of large scale retail stores. When Steven’s father retired in the early 1980’s, Steven started Steven L. Carter Construction. Over the course of the last 25+ years, Steven has successfully completed dozens of commercial and industrial projects as a general contractor, ranging from hospitals to manufacturing facilities to hotels to shopping centers. Looking toward the future, Steven is developing new strategies to address the responsibility of builders today to maximize the social benefit of a given project, while minimizing environmental impacts.
